“My education is by far one of my greatest possessions, for I can only accumulate my wealth of learning as I progress through the years, and this knowledge can never be taken away from me. It is formed especially by both my academic and life experiences. In middle school, I remember having the fantastic dream of attending Harvard to be successful, but I was unsure of how to progress towards this arduous objective. At St. Gerard Majella, Sr. Jo-Ann and my teachers always ensured that I was aware that focusing on my studies was a priority and taught me the immense value of academic results in advancing towards the next step. I was fortunate enough to also attend a great high school, but the path of a dream starts with the right step - and St. Gerard Majella set me on that path. Attending Mass and other school events, especially the ones for Halloween and Mardi Gras - my favorites, taught me that I could rely on a marvelous support system in whatever endeavors I pursued, however unlikely my dream. Although an achievement is often thought of to be a straightforward story of one person, in reality, nothing can be done without the aid of others, such as when teachers clarified concepts when I was confused or when I learned about cooperation through projects with my amazing classmates. Truthfully, these simple examples of encouragement made all the difference - not just for me but for all of the student body. Now, as a recent graduate of Harvard College, I often feel nostalgic as I remember tag days and catholic School’s week, but these sweet memories keep grounded and remind to continue learning and improving.
